2.28 Pluto in houses

“…deeper and deeper…” “I’m in the middle of a chain reaction…satisfaction…” “I’ve got you under my skin…” “I feel the earth move under my feet I feel the sky tumbling down…whenever you’re around…”

Because Pluto moves so slowly, the preceding section, Pluto in Signs will be a useful read in conjunction with the following, especially for Pluto in the 10th, 11th and 12th houses.

Pluto Pluto in the 1st House

If Pluto does, as Jeff Green suggests, correlate with our Soul’s Journey then some of those things that have happened to Pluto in the 1st house individuals might be able to be understood in terms of Soul evolution, or adjustments over lifetimes rather than injustices in this one. This is a hugely difficult one and deserves respect. Individuals with 1st house Pluto often reveal tales of sexual abuse or underworld power plays. It is as if the True Will has been so cut off that only the acute threat of unbearable demolition of the Will of the individual entirely will be enough to get the individual to respect and live according to their Wills themselves, so that they contribute to the whole in a happy meaningful way for themselves and for others.

We have spoken time and again throughout this section of how Pluto demands attention to core issues. Does this mean you have to keep placing yourself in dangerous situations in order to forgive your persecutors? Or can masochism ever be justified? That’s a load of bull actually and Pluto here will point this out with abundant clarity time after time unless Neptune is influencing a prolonged sadomasochistic loop of illusion. Pluto is tiny and needs finding but its power is vast and will blow the lid off all illusion.

Use this power in yourself to enable you to use your experiences. The old saying ‘If it doesn’t kill you it makes you stronger’ is very pertinent here even though it won’t want to be heard.

There are things you can do or you wouldn’t have this placement. If you need help finding them then fine but you will most probably find that if you take an investigative perspective rather than a defensive one the answers you are looking for will come.

Pluto Pluto in the 7th House

People with Pluto in the 7th house will usually experience many upheavals in marriage and/or business partnerships. The lessons will be profound and the power plays and compulsions will be the same energy that those in other houses experience but will be experienced here in the 7th. Your journey is one where you are definitely not alone. Your spouse is experiencing Pluto with you even if not in the same way. For example, although you have 7th house Pluto their Pluto may be in the 10th propelling them towards understanding the system that makes you behave towards them in such an overpowering way. Yours is in the 7th and your lessons are about how to live with another in harmony rather than upheaval and power plays.

Pluto Pluto in the 2nd House

Pluto in the 2nd house is the proverbial desire to own and feel powerful because of ownership. In its opposite 8th house marriage into money (8th being the partner’s possessions) is more likely. The 2nd house is Venus house of value, Taurus naturally on the cusp. An earth house where matter or material things take on meaning. Pluto here may act by giving and losing catastrophically at times in order to experience the reality of this house. If Pluto is your Soul’s journey and your Soul cares only for experience and success and failure have no meaning then in this house you are going to learn where your Will is contained and where all other things are merely formations of yours and other’s Wills and you are not nothing without them. You’ll experience this through great wealth and power or loss of everything.

Pluto Pluto in the 8th House

Pluto in the 8th house as we have said might be centered around the partner’s possessions. Read for 2nd above. However, the 8th house is very much on its own in terms of lessons of transmutation. The 8th is Scorpio’s natural house and Pluto naturally therefore rules this house. Birth (creative impulse), death (mediumship), sexuality (where two become one in sacred marriage of matter – 2nd house), are the big issues of this house. Your Soul journey will be around one or all of these things here. Have you found your Soul mate? Perhaps you have. The 8th house is a karmic house (along with the 6th and the 12th).

Imagine the metamorphosis of the butterfly in this house. You will go through the caterpillar stage, then retreat into your cocoon and then fly high in profound beauty like the butterfly (or the phoenix from the ashes). This can be an amazing journey if you understand that remaining still, or acting Saturnian here simply will not work for you.

Pluto Pluto in the 3rd House

No doubt you have been approached about your poignant tongue lashing of others on occasion. Pluto power here is expressed through speech and mental logic. You are able to manipulate the logical at Mercurial pace with Pluto here in the 3rd, as long as it is not obstructed by other aspects or signs.

The 3rd house is also the house of siblings and there may be conflict amongst brothers and sisters here that seems way out of proportion for most families. There may be skeletons in the brothers and sisters closets that provide fodder for your Soul’s experience.

Pluto Pluto in the 9th House

Pluto here in the 9th is well placed in that it can make an Anthropologist able to get to the core of the ideological debate so that great work can be done in the 10th making of systems. (Read Pluto in Sagittarius and Capricorn in the preceding section to get a bigger picture.)

Pluto in the 9th will act in events surrounding ideological considerations, foreign travel, publishing, public relations work, religion, and vocational experiences. There is great opportunity with this placement to forge new ideas for many people.

Pluto Pluto in the 4th House

Pluto in the 4th house can mean great upheaval in the family so that a sense of security is ever eluding for the individual. Alternatively, building a foundation on Pluto power can wealth up your bank balance! There may be a parent who is Plutonian in nature or born in the sign of Scorpio. There may be a foundation where change is comfortable, where growth is compelling for you. The 4th house is about our base and where we will feel ‘at home’. With Pluto here look to the sign on the cusp to understand where your preferred living quarters will be. From this place you will be able to power up more comfortably.

Pluto Pluto in the 10th House

Pluto in the 10th house works like Pluto in Capricorn and the preceding section provides a lot of information about this placement. The 10th house is the public house of systems. Pluto here can make the politician or the politically active scientist.

Pluto Pluto in the 5th House

Pluto in the 5th house can reveal upheaval around children. Perhaps you have a Scorpion child who provides experiences for your Soul. You may have a very Pluto hobby with this placement. Pluto naturally rules Scorpio, the fixed water sign where emotions run still and very deep. If you are a poet or painter then your art will reflect this. If a love of chemistry is found here in the 5th house then perhaps you will create a board game that teaches the joy of this subject to others. Whatever your creative outlet go for it full throttle because you have the power to make it come true.

Pluto Pluto in the 11th House

Pluto in the 11th house has been dealt with in the preceding section Pluto in Aquarius and should be read in conjunction with this paragraph. Pluto powering up the 11th house propels individuals into group situations. Opposite the 5th house of the individual creative Leo type the 11th will often cause conflict between self and group in terms of power structures.

Pluto Pluto in the 6th House

Pluto in the 6th house where we become whole ready to meet anOther in the 7th house of partnerships is a karmic house. Pluto here will act through health matters related to the integrity of body/mind/spirit connections. There may be psychosomatic illnesses that enable the Soul to experience this link firsthand. There may be thoughts of spiritual possession that bring to light the connection between the spirit and the body and mind. All these things are possible here in Virgo’s natural domain.

Pluto can, therefore, help individuals to advocate major changes to the health industry because ultimately Pluto is a universal ‘outer planet’ concerned with the whole group rather than with the individual only. Also read Pluto in Virgo in the previous section.

Pluto Pluto in the 12th House

Pluto in the 12th should also be read in conjunction with Pluto in Pisces in the previous section. Freud was a Scorpio and the Father of psychoanalytical psychology. Psychoanalysis is concerned with getting to the subconscious root of things in order to raise them to the surface and clear them. Very Plutonian indeed. Herein the 12th house of the subconscious Pluto will compel the individual into the hidden realms. This does not have to be psychology although psychology will be of interest to most individuals who have this placement.

It can be through hidden areas such as prisons, taboo customs, or raw ‘Id’ like cultures or musical expressions.

Read Pluto in Pisces for further information about potential manifestations of Pluto in the 12th house.

Conclusion:

Pluto is an ‘outer planet’ but its impact on individuals is pronounced and life changing events happen around this energy. For those who want to read more about Pluto Jeffrey Wolf Green’s work provides a soul approach to astrology that focuses on Pluto.
